Command is separated into two departments. Heads of Staff and Command Support. The former are the military officers in charge of departments and the ship in general. In the absence of a Commanding Officer, the Executive Officer or a Head of Staff takes command. The latter are a wide range of support staff and advisors ranging from newly christened bridge officers, corporate representatives, and grizzled senior enlisted advisors.
